Filters shall be designed for 24‑hour operation.
Filters for swimming‑pool systems of different purposes shall be installed separately.
Where multiple filters are adopted for one swimming‑pool treatment system, each filter shall be capable of independent backwashing.
Before being filtered and purified, used swimming‑pool water shall be pre‑purified via a hair‑removal filter.
The shape and pressure‑resistance performance of gravity‑type filters shall be calculated and confirmed by the manufacturer to guarantee operational safety.
The filter‑media gradation of pressure filters shall comply with Clause 6.2.4 of Specification for Design of Water Supply and Drainage for Swimming Pools and Amusement Pools (CECS14:2002).
The quantity of filters shall be determined through technical‑economic comparison, considering circulating water volume, effluent water quality, operation hours and maintenance conditions.
Vertical pressure‑type filters are preferred; horizontal‑type filters shall be adopted when the diameter exceeds 2.6 m.
For medium‑and‑large‑sized swimming‑pool water‑treatment systems using pressure‑type filters, no fewer than two filters shall be configured for each system.
For quartz‑sand filters of medium‑and‑large‑sized swimming pools, the filtration rate shall be 15‑30 m/h; for swimming pools with heavy visitor loads, the filtration rate shall not exceed 25 m/h.
For quartz‑sand filters of small‑sized swimming pools, the filtration rate may be 30‑40 m/h.
Quartz‑sand filters shall be equipped with uniformly‑distributed water‑distribution assemblies and uniform water‑collection (back‑wash water‑distribution) assemblies. Accessories including access manholes, water‑inlet pipes, water‑outlet pipes, drain pipes, vent pipes, differential‑pressure pipes, observation ports, sampling pipes, flow meters and various switching valves shall be provided. The wash‑water drain pipe shall have a transparent pipe section or other device to visually check the clarity of backwash discharge water.
Filter foundations shall be constructed in accordance with design drawings. Anchor bolts for securing equipment shall be firmly integrated with concrete foundations. Pre‑embedded holes shall be thoroughly cleaned before concrete pouring. Bolts shall remain plumb and satisfy mechanical‑strength requirements. A moisture‑proof layer shall be arranged for concrete foundations.
Transport equipment shall be selected according to filter weight, dimensions and on‑site construction conditions. Before installation, slings shall be inspected and certified. Slings shall have equal lengths to avoid tank deformation or damage caused by uneven stress.
Piping connection for filters shall be performed only after tanks are positioned, levelled and firmly fixed. Valve handles shall be oriented for easy access and arranged neatly.
Quartz‑sand filling shall commence only after water distributors and water collectors have been installed, inspected and accepted. The filling quantity of quartz sand shall follow the design requirements of the corresponding filter model.
Quartz sand shall not be poured directly into the filter tank. Lay the bottom‑layer sand manually first. After the sand layer is 10‑15 cm higher than the collection pipelines, fill the tank with water to a specified level, then pour in the remaining quartz sand.
An automatic air‑vent valve shall be fitted at the highest point of the filter tank, and a drain valve at the lowest point.
A fibreglass‑reinforced‑plastic observation port shall be installed on the backwash pipeline.
Pressure gauges shall be mounted on water‑inlet and water‑outlet pipelines of filters, oriented for easy reading.

The filter supports automatic operation, featuring high filtration efficiency, low resistance, large treatment capacity and infrequent backwashing.
It is widely used for pre‑treatment of pure water, food‑and‑beverage process water, mineral water, and water in electronics, printing‑and‑dyeing, paper‑making and chemical industries, as well as filtration after secondary treatment of industrial wastewater. It is also applied for advanced filtration in water‑recycling systems and swimming‑pool circulating‑water treatment systems. It delivers excellent removal performance for suspended solids in industrial wastewater.
