Dupont™AmberLite™ IRN160 H/OH IonExchange Resinis designed specifically for use in nuclear loops where highest resin purity and stability are required, and where the "as supplied" resin must haveaminimum of ionic andnon-ionic contamination. Thesehighstandards of resinpurity enable plants to achieve reliable and safe production whilst reducing the needforequipment maintenanceand minimizing the impact of unscheduledoutages. AmberLite™ IRN160 H/OH is astoichiometric equivalent mixtureof AmberLite™ IRN97 H IonExchangeResinandAmberLite™ IRN78 OH IonExchange Resinona1:1equivalent basis. It is designed to minimizese parationof anionandcation during installation and transfer due to the smaller cation resin particle size. The less separating properties of this resin make it easily transferable from one location to another, helping to eliminate the formation of a cation layer at the bottom of theservice vessel. As apre-mixedresin, it alsoallows forfasterchange-out andinitial rinse-up prior to service, whichminimizes start-up timeandrinsewaste watervolume. Thesmallercationparticle size also provides faster kinetics and higher exchange capacity leading to areduction of radwastecomparedtostandardmixedbeds. The higher capacity, 10% DVB cationresinalsoprovides excellent chemical stability and resistance to beadfracture from attrition.
